Raising an empathetic generation

"If we are to reach real peace in the world, we shall have to begin with the children" -Mahatma Gandhi

Teaching peace

Happens every day. Children pay close attention to our actions and the actions of others. They choose to open themselves up or close themselves off depending on their experiences and understanding of the world around them.

Children have a natural curiosity to language

I am often asked how to say certain words in Spanish by the children. So it is an activity we often do from time to time.

Children ask a word that is important to them and I translate, encouraging them to repeat the word in Spanish.

Spanish repetition

Not only engages the mind, I feel it engages the heart. Children are taking a risk by saying words they may have never heard before. Words that may have very different sounds than what they are used to.

They are opening themselves up to trying something new. Listening to something new in a safe and nurturing environment.

Teaching peace

Happens every day.
